Self review Framework - cleaner sleeker easier

I was delighted to see the new BECTA Self Review Freamework site, which has had a makeover to make it far easier to use and complete and find the information you need. Furthermore there is also the option to dive in and have a go, without having to sign-up.

In my work I have found the SRF is invaluable as a tool for assessing how good a school, and as an aid in devising an action plan. It is a misconception that the SRF should only be used 'because we're going for the ICT mark'.

Animation In Fullwood Primary

Over the last Two days, children in Year 5 at Fullwood Primary have been using Digi-Blue cameras and Windows Movie Maker to create simple animations.

Here is how two pupils described the project:



Making a movie

We started making the animated movie yesterday (1/7/08) and it was BRILL!!
It all started when Mrs. Reynolds told us that we were going to make an animated movie with the almighty Mr. Anthony Evans the professional movie/computer programmer. We were extremely excited!

When we were making the movie we were still excited and we were very enthusiastic. The enthusiasm didn’t wear out until the end. Even though we had many difficulties we found a way through it and continued with the movie. After we had taken the pictures, we imported the storyboard to Windows Movie Maker and edited it by putting text in it, credits and others.

These processes took a long time but as you can see the end product was fantastic!

Animation Course

Last week, Nicholas ran the animation course, and looked at using 2Animate to create GIFS, alongside stop motion work with Digi-Blue. The group also explored a more demanding, avatar based 3d application,Kahootz. In a bold new move away from paper based handouts, we created a wiki for this course ( See below).

We will continue to adapt, change and improve this wiki and you may want to contribute and improve it too, email Anthony or Nic with any suggestions or galring omissions, otherwise feel fre to use the wiki in your work.

http://www.jumpcut.com/ – enables you to share photos and videos – you can also re arrange adverts from top name brands – a useful link to Literacy perhaps?

http://www.earth.google.com/ – when the new system gets put in this will be on the system – a fantastic tool for Geography and used in conjunction with Flickr enables you to ‘fly’ to your destination.

http://www.flickr.com/ - a fantastic photo sharing website – I am currently setting up a group site – similar to blogging but will enable us to upload art work – this site enables you to do amazing things – can create a galaxy, put post it notes on photos – really worth checking out! It also has some great groups – classroom displays – lots of ideas!, six word story – does what it says in the name, tell a story in 5 frames – again does what it says on the tin!

http://www.gogivers.org/kids_home.cfm a great PHSE resource with lesson plans and ability for children to create timelines and vote for school councillors.

http://www.classtools.net/ – some excellent ‘games’ for IWB – includes a fruit machine which randomly selects childrens names for answering questions and my favourite a timer that counts down to tv theme tunes including mission impossible and Dr who!
